Patrol Division

The Davidson County Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement services 24 hours a day, every day of the year, to the citizens of Davidson County. The primary provider of this service is the Patrol Division, which places one or more deputies in all areas of the County. These deputies are trained to provide information, assistance, and resolution to problems that may require their attention. There are eight different zones in Davidson County that our patrol division oversees.

Captain

Chris Stilwell

Captain Chris Stilwell is the Commander for the Patrol Division for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Stilwell started his career at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office in 1995. Captain Stilwell started his career as a Patrol Deputy, Detective in the Criminal Investigation Division, Civil Deputy, K-9 Deputy, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant and Captain for the Patrol Division. Stilwell also has served as a member of the Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team since 2019, he is currently the Sniper Team Leader. In December of 2025, Captain Stilwell assumed command of the Patrol Division for the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, which consists of four Patrol Divisions. Prior to starting at the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, Captain Stilwell served in the United States Army for four years in the Military Police Division. Stilwell has received the Advanced Service Award and the Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate from the North Carolina Sheriff’s Education and Training Standards Commission. Stilwell has received the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office Medal of Valor and the Purple Heart Award in June of 2024.
