K-9 Division

DCSO K-9 Team 

The Canine Division is a centralized uniform support service which offers a specialized resource to the Sheriff’s Office through the professional utilization of an effective law enforcement tool, the Sheriff’s K-9. 

The mission of the Canine Division is to enhance the Department’s efforts in crime prevention and detection, criminal apprehension, officer safety, and service to the community. The Sheriff’s Office K-9 Division consist of four patrol handlers, one School Resource handler, one handler specially trained in explosive detection, one Narcotics Unit handler and one bloodhound handler that specializes in tracking lost children and adults.

The Canine Division is capable of aiding in several critical areas including, but not limited to: Officer protection, apprehension of suspects, psychological deterrent to suspect aggression, searching for suspects, evidence retrieval, lost children and adults and other general law enforcement duties in patrol, detention and the courts.
